Als die Brennerei Kilchoman 2005 eröffnet wurde, war es die erste neue Destillerie auf der schottischen Insel Islay seit 124 Jahren. Bei Kilchoman wird verhältnismäßig viel Wert auf Regionalität und Handwerk gelegt. Die zur Produktion verwendete Gerste wird zu einem gewissen Teil in Brennereinähe angebaut und auf eigenen Malzböden gedarrt. Die Single Malts der Brennerei begeistern Fans des rauchigen Whisky auf der ganzen Welt was dazu führt, dass sich Kilchoman Stück für Stück vergrößert.
Kilchoman Machir Bay reifte für nicht definierte Zeit in einer Kombination aus ehemaligen Bourbon- und Sherryfässern. Abgefüllt mit 46 % vol. Alkohol, ohne Farbstoff und nicht kältefiltriert.
Aroma: Kalter Torfrauch mit Noten von Honig und Zitrus, Kräutern und Thymian.
Geschmack: Zitronen und Limetten, Kräuterhonig mit würzig-maritimer Rauchigkeit und Malz.
