There was already a whiskey distillery on the site of the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Kentucky in 1812. It was opened by a certain Elijah Pepper. After several changes of ownership, the distillery was closed and sold by Brown-Forman in 1970. A few years later, however, it was bought back, modernized and put into operation. Woodford Reserve uses atypical Scottish pot stills for distillation, which are modeled on the stills at the Auchentoshan Distillery in Glasgow.
Woodford Reserve Bourbon matured for an undefined period in fresh American white oak barrels (Virgin Oak). Bottled with 43.2 % vol. Alcohol, without colorant.
Aroma: Sweet with vanilla and fruit, dry oak notes, mildly spicy.
Taste: Fruity with cherries, clove and sweet caramel, nutty oak.
