The two men were determined to open the distillery in the same year that Queen Victoria celebrated her 60-year reign, so that the first cask could be filled in the jubilee year. They actually succeeded - but without windows and doors in the distillery.
Speyburn 18 years matured for the entire time in a combination of ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks. Bottled at 40% vol. alcohol.
