Brothers John and Edward Hopkins founded the Speyburn Distillery in Speyside, Scotland, in 1897. The two men were determined to open the distillery in the same year that Queen Victoria celebrated her 60th reign in order to fill the first cask in the same year as the anniversary. They actually succeeded - but without any windows or doors in the distillery.
Speyburn 10 years matured the entire time in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks. Bottled with 46 % vol. alcohol.
Aroma: Tart barley malt, apples and citrus, some vanilla and slightly dry oak.
Taste: Sweet and spicy in a mix with powdered sugar and vanilla, fruity, some oak.
