The Scapa Distillery, founded in 1885, is in the immediate vicinity of the Highland Park Distillery. By Scottish standards, the distillery produces relatively little single malt whisky, which makes bottlings from Scapa rather rare. Scapa has been burning continuously again since 2004 after extensive renovations, in which production was discontinued in places or taken over by employees of the Highland Park Distillery.
Scapa Glansa first matured in ex-bourbon casks for an undefined period of time and then received post-maturation in casks that previously held smoky whiskey. Bottled at a mild 40% ABV. Alcohol.
Aroma: Sour-sweet fruit notes with mild spiciness, delicate sweetness, heather and a hint of smoke.
Taste: Sweet with herbal honey and some pepper, green apples, spicy-floral with some smoke and leather.
