Founded in 1869 by EH Taylor Jr., the Buffalo Trace Distillery has had a variety of owners and names since it opened. Many owners have realized themselves with their own bottling, which has led to Buffalo Trace as a company uniting probably most brands in the whiskey sector under one roof. Bourbon, wheat and rye whiskey is produced in different bottle shapes and brand names.
Sazerac Rye matured the entire time in fresh American white oak barrels (Virgin Oak). Bottled at 45% ABV. Alcohol, without dye.
Aroma: Fresh with mint and aniseed, balance of spicy and sweet with dry oak.
Taste: Spicy with cloves and a deep grain note, sweet vanilla, menthol and liquorice.
