It was 100 years since whiskey was last produced in Wales before the Welsh Whiskey Company was founded in 1998. The Penderyn Distillery distilled its first New Make in 2000 and bottled the first single malt whiskey in 2004. The first release was ceremoniously accompanied by many invited guests, including the Prince of Wales himself.
Penderyn Legend first matured in former bourbon barrels for an undefined period of time and was then further matured in Madeira barrels. Bottled at 41% ABV. Alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Emphasized cereals with light fruit notes, mix of sweet and spicy with dry oak.
Taste: Sweet with malt sugar, green apples and peaches, herbs and tart oak.
