The Pulteney Distillery, which bottles its single malts as "Old Pulteney", was founded in 1826 in the port town of Wick in the North Highlands. When the distillery opened, the town of Wick was experiencing a massive boom in herring fishing. The large number of people employed in fishing forced the town council to proclaim an alcohol ban in Wick. Pulteney is one of only a few Scottish distilleries that are in the city center and not outside.
Old Pulteney Pineau des Charentes matured in a combination of ex-bourbon casks and Pineau des Charentes wine casks for an undefined period of time. Bottled at 46% ABV. Alcohol.
Aroma: Fruity with creamy sweetness, hints of herbs and subdued floral aromas, fruit and dry wood.
Taste: Sweet with honey and vanilla, spicy undertones with some pepper, floral notes and light grapes.
