
The Pulteney Distillery, which bottles its single malts as "Old Pulteney," was founded in 1826 in the port town of Wick in the northern Highlands. At the time of the distillery's opening, Wick was experiencing a massive boom in the herring fishery. The large number of people employed in the fishing industry forced the town council to impose an alcohol ban in Wick. Pulteney is one of the few Scottish distilleries located in the town center, rather than on the outskirts.
Old Pulteney 16 Year Old matured in American oak and Spanish oak casks. Bottled at a mild 43% ABV.
