The Nikka company was founded by Masataka Taketsuru in 1934 after he had trained in the distillation of Scotch whisky in Scotland a few years earlier and then helped to set up the Suntory company. Nikka operates a number of facilities and distilleries in Japan, including the Yoichi and Miyagikyo whisky distilleries. The Scottish Ben Nevis Distillery also belongs to the Japanese company.

Nikka From the Barrel matured for an unspecified period of time in oak barrels. Bottled with a strong 51.4% alcohol by volume.

Aroma: Mix of spicy and sweet with light dried fruits, roasted nuts and some oak.

Taste: Sweet with honey and vanilla, dried apricots, deep spiciness and delicate nutty notes.
