Midleton Very Rare is Ireland's most renowned annual whiskey release and has been considered the flagship of the Midleton Distillery since 1984. Each edition is individually blended by the Master Distiller from several distillate styles and is strictly limited and individually numbered.
The Midleton Very Rare 2026 Vintage Release marks the 43rd edition in the series and Master Distiller Kevin O'Gorman's sixth composition. For this vintage, he has combined five different distillate styles: three distinct single pot still styles and two single grain whiskies, the proportion of which has been slightly increased compared to the previous year. This gives the 2026 edition additional butterscotch and toffee notes, as well as floral accents of rose petals and geranium.
Aroma: Fresh citrus notes of orange peel and lemon zest, accompanied by delicate apricot and stone fruit aromas. Sweet hints of crème brûlée, toffee and butterscotch join in, along with fine floral and herbal nuances.
Taste: Warm butter croissant, dried apricot and caramel meet a dry, fruity, full-bodied attack - the typical, flawless pot still character of Midleton in full measure.
Finish: Long-lasting, warm and complex, with nuances of spice cake, poppy-lemon muffin and browned butter.
