Kilchoman Sister Cask 2014/2024 Cask 650/2014 100% Islay, 0.7l, alc. 55.3 vol.%

With the "Sister Cask" whiskies from Kilchoman, the German importer, the Hanseatic Wine Trading Company, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024.

When the Kilchoman distillery opened in 2005, it was the first new distillery on the Scottish island of Islay in 124 years. At Kilchoman, a relatively high value is placed on regionality and craftsmanship. The barley used in production is partly grown near the distillery and The distillery's single malts delight fans of smoky whisky all over the world, which means that Kilchoman is expanding bit by bit.

The Scotch matured from 2014 to 2024 in First Fill Bourbon Barrel and according to the label it is 9 years old. The distillery bottled it with a peat content of 20 ppm and an alcohol content of 55.3% by volume. It has a convincing natural color, is not chill-filtered and there are only 200 bottles available for purchase.

Aroma: The whisky flatters the nose with toffee and malty notes. It also has salty notes that give it a maritime character.

Taste: The 9-year-old Kilchoman Sister Cask whisky is sweet and creamy on the tongue. It tastes salty and also has caramel and vanilla. Oak wood and a fine smoky note lead into the finish.
