Kilchoman Sister Cask 2010/2024 Cask 478/2010 100% Islay, 0.7l, alc. 54.5 Vol.-%

With the "Sister Cask" whiskies from Kilchoman, the German importer, the Hanseatic Wine Trading Company, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024.

When the Kilchoman distillery opened in 2005, it was the first new distillery on the Scottish island of Islay in 124 years. At Kilchoman, a relatively high value is placed on regionality and craftsmanship. The barley used in production is partly grown near the distillery and kilned on the company's own malt floors. The distillery's single malts delight fans of smoky whisky all over the world, which means that Kilchoman is expanding bit by bit.

The Scotch matured from 2010 to 2024 in First Fill Bourbon Barrel and, according to the label, is 13 years old. The distillery bottled it with a peat content of 50 ppm and an alcohol content of 54.5% by volume. It has a convincing natural color, is not chill-filtered and there are only 248 bottles available to buy.

Aroma: The 13-year-old whisky has a nose with the peat smoke typical of the Islay region. It also smells of sweet toffee notes. Salt creates maritime impressions.

Taste: The Kilchoman Sister Cask Whisky is creamy and sweet on the tongue. It tastes full-bodied with maritime notes. Vanilla and caramel are present. Oak and peat smoke lead into the finish.
