The King Car Group was founded in 1956 and is an influential company in the Taiwanese food industry. After Taiwan joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2002, thus ending the state's spirits monopoly, TT Lee, owner and founder of the King Car Group, fulfilled a dream by building a whiskey distillery. Construction began in April 2006, and production of Kavalan Single Malt Whisky began nine months later.

Kavalan Solist Sherry matured for an unspecified period in a single Oloroso sherry cask. Bottled at a robust 54% alcohol by volume, it's color-free and non-chill-filtered.

Aroma: Christmassy with spices, dark chocolate, fruity sweetness and dry nutty wood.

Taste: Spicy with pepper, sweet with brown sugar, raisins and dried fruit, chocolatey oak.
