The Schäfer family distillery was founded in 1869 by Michael Eckert, the great-great-grandfather of current owner Jörg Schäfer, in Seckmauern in the Odenwald region. The business is currently run by the fifth generation of the family and, in 2019, celebrates its 150th anniversary.
