After his father's death in 1819, John Walker and his mother sold the family farm near the Scottish town of Kilmarnock and used the proceeds to open a local general store. After a while, the range of the shop was expanded to include whisky. John experimentally applied blending methods used for tea at the time to whiskey. Today, Johnnie Walker is the best-selling Scotch whiskey in the world .

Johnnie Walker 12 Years Black Label matured the entire time in oak barrels. Bottled at a mild 40 vol. % alcohol.

Aroma: Slightly smoky, citrus and ripe fruit, delicate sweetness, grain.

Palate: Sweet honey and vanilla, hints of apples and lemons, hints of smoke, malty.
