The current distillery dates back to 1775 and produces both smoky and non-smoky single malt whisky and is also known worldwide as the "Home of the Famous Grouse". Glenturret is also known for Towser the house cat, who made it into the Guinness Book of Records: she reached an almost biblical age for cats of almost 24 years and allegedly killed 28,899 mice during this time.
