
Evidence of (illegal) whiskey distilling in the region around the town of Tain dates back to around 1700, but legal whiskey has only been produced at the Glenmorangie Distillery since 1843. The distillery was the first to start aging its whiskey in other casks on a large scale. Over the years, the distillery has been expanded several times, but they deliberately stuck to the small but tall stills, which are unique in shape in all of Scotland.
Glenmorangie 14 Year Old Quinta Ruban first matured in ex-bourbon casks and then received a post-maturation in port wine casks. Bottled at 46% vol. Alcohol, not cold filtered.
Aroma: Dark malt, nutty with creamy chocolate notes and ripe berries, candle wax.
Taste: Fruity with red currants and tangerines, nougat chocolate, delicate spiciness and slightly dry oak.
