Evidence of (illegal) whisky distilling in the region around the town of Tain dates back to around 1700, but legal whisky has only been produced at the Glenmorangie Distillery since 1843. The distillery was the first to begin maturing its whisky in other casks on a large scale. Over the years, the distillery has been expanded several times, but the small but tall stills have been deliberately retained, making their design unique in all of Scotland.
Glenmorangie 10 years matured the entire time in former bourbon barrels.
Bottled at a mild 40% alcohol by volume.
Aroma: Fruity and sweet with grain and mild oak notes.
Taste: Sweet with honey, peaches and menthol, malty with slightly dry oak.
