
A local farmer named George Connell founded the Glengoyne Distillery in 1833 in the southern Highlands, initially under the name "Burnfoot of Dumgoyne." In 1861, it was renamed Glenguin Distillery. It wasn't until 1906, after its sale to the Lang brothers, that it received the name "Glengoyne" as we know it today. The distillery's single malts are predominantly released with an age statement.
