The Glenfiddich distillery was built between 1886 and 1887 by William Grant and began production on the first day of Christmas in 1887. In 1892, the founder took a break from managing the Glenfiddich Distillery to build the nearby Balvenie distillery, which is also still owned by William Grant & Sons. In 1963, the distinctive three-sided Glenfiddich bottle was introduced. That same year, the distillery also launched the very first official single malt whisky.
Glenfiddich 16 Year Old matured entirely in a combination of ex-American wine casks, new American oak casks and second-fill bourbon casks. Bottled at a gentle 43% vol. alcohol.
Aroma: Rich and sweet with notes of biscuits, cheesecake, maple syrup and caramelized ginger. Subtle notes of toasted oak are also present.
Taste: Temptingly sweet with juicy berries and a syrupy mouthfeel.
