The Glenfiddich distillery was built between 1886 and 1887 by William Grant and began production on Christmas Day 1887. In 1892, the founder took a break from managing the Glenfiddich Distillery to build the nearby Balvenie distillery, which is also still owned by William Grant & Sons. In 1963, the distinctive three-sided Glenfiddich bottle was introduced. That same year, the distillery also launched the first ever official single malt whisky.
Glenfiddich 15 years matured the entire time in a combination of former bourbon, sherry and fresh American white oak barrels (virgin oak). Bottled at a mild 40% alcohol by volume.
Aroma: Sweet and spicy, cereal with hints of baked apple and raisin, dry oak and a hint of cinnamon.
Taste: Slightly peppery, sweet with caramel, fruity with ripe apples and pears, nutty oak notes.
