Founded in 1967, the Glenallachie Distillery is one of the younger distilleries in Scotland. Located just outside the town of Aberlour, the distillery was originally built for mass production for the blend industry. Since the takeover of the distillery by a group of investors in 2017, the focus today is on their own single malts. These are matured and post-matured in a variety of different types of casks. Glenallachie means something like "Valley of Stones".
Glenallachie 8 years matured the entire time in a combination of former sherry, red wine and fresh barrels (Virgin Oak). Bottled at 46% ABV. Alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Nose: Dry oak with deep spiciness, hints of milk chocolate and mocha.
Taste: Mixture of spicy and sweet with cloves and pepper, caramel and prunes, dry wood.
