Founded in 1967, the Glenallachie Distillery is one of the younger distilleries in Scotland. Located just outside the town of Aberlour, the distillery was originally built for mass production for the blend industry. Since the takeover of the distillery by a group of investors in 2017, the focus today is on their own single malts. These are matured and post-matured in a variety of different types of casks. Glenallachie means something like "Valley of Stones".
Glenallachie 12 years first matured in ex-bourbon casks and then received a post-maturation in sherry casks and fresh oak casks (Virgin Oak). Bottled at 46% ABV. Alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Dark fruit notes with distinctive sweetness and spices, grassy-fresh with chocolatey oak.
Taste: Pepper and caramel, hints of dried figs, brown sugar and mocha.
