Bunnahabhain was founded in 1881 by the Greenless brothers on the Scottish island of Islay and translates as "river mouth." The distillery has some of the largest stills on the island and produces both smokeless and smoked whisky. With an approximate smoke content of 38 ppm, the peated bottlings are considered to be rather mildly smoky. These are often found in the typical Bunnahabhain bottle, which is very dark in color and bears Gaelic names.
Bunnahabhain An Cladach matured for an unspecified period of time in a combination of former bourbon and sherry casks.
Bottled at 50% alcohol by volume, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Dried fruits, caramel and vanilla with rich sherry notes
Taste: Creamy and smooth with strong sherry, nuts, spices and salty maritime notes.
