The Duncan Taylor company was founded in Glasgow in 1938. Over the decades, the independent bottler has developed strong relationships with distilleries across Scotland. The company mostly brought its own barrels to the respective distilleries and had them filled with New Make. Over the years, this has led to enormous cask inventories, from which Duncan Taylor still creates excellent bottlings today.
Bunnahabhain 40 Years Old comes from the Scottish island of Islay and matured in a single cask from June 1966 to October 2006 (4877). Bottled at 40.6 vol. % alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Nose: Deep fruitiness with waxy notes, pepper and aniseed, hints of mineral smoke, tree sap and hay.
Taste: Fruity with ripe pears and gooseberries, dry herbs and candle wax, toasted notes and polished wood.
