After the Benromach distillery was founded in 1898, the distillery went through some truly dark times. In the 1980s, Benromach seemed to be on the brink of collapse before the independent bottler Gordon & Macphail from Elgin took over the distillery. In 1998, the distillery in Forres was reopened by Prince Charles. Benromach is one of the few distilleries in the Scottish Speyside to produce continuously with smoky barley malt.
Benromach Contrasts Double Matured matured from 2011 to 2023, first in first-fill bourbon casks and finished for 5 years in Bordeaux wine casks.
Bottled at 46% alcohol by volume, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma and taste: honey, floral notes, dark fruits, toasted oak,
delicate peat smoke
