Founded in 1825 just outside Glasgow, the Auchentoshan distillery produces triple-distilled single malt whisky. What is more typical in Ireland is less common in Scotland. Triple distillation allows the spirit and later whisky to mature very gently, which makes Auchentoshan, which translates as "corner of the field", particularly popular with newcomers.
Auchentoshan Three Wood matured for an undefined period in ex-bourbon casks and was then matured in Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. Bottled at 43% alcohol by volume.
Aroma: Chocolatey notes, hints of dark grapes, vanilla and slightly dry oak.
Taste: Sweet with caramel, mild spices, dark fruits and a pinch of cinnamon.
