Ardnamurchan AD/ Heritage Barley Release Sherry Cask 0.7l, alc. 58.4% ABV

The Ardnamurchan Distillery on the eponymous peninsula in the west of the Scottish Highlands is one of Scotland's most sustainable and experimental distilleries. With the AD/ Heritage Barley Release, the distillery focuses specifically on traditional barley varieties - this second edition in the series is distilled 100% from unpeated Golden Promise barley, which gives the spirit its oily, viscous, characterful Ardnamurchan style.

For this edition, the identical spirit was matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks in parallel and bottled separately - this allows for a direct comparison of the influence of the two cask types. The bottling presented here is the Sherry Cask variant.

Unpeated, non-chill filtered, natural colour - bottled at cask strength at 58.4% ABV, 0.7 litres.

Colour: Walnut

Aroma: Cherries in brandy, blackberry liqueur, peppermint, gingerbread spices and blueberry cake

Taste: Powerful and creamy from the Golden Promise barley, dark dried fruits and sherry sweetness, carried by a warming, spicy attack without smoky notes
