Ardnamurchan AD/ Heritage Barley Release Bourbon Cask 0.7l, alc. 58.6% ABV

Ardnamurchan Distillery, located on the eponymous peninsula in the west of the Scottish Highlands, is one of Scotland's most sustainable and experimental distilleries. With the AD/ Heritage Barley Release, the distillery focuses specifically on traditional barley varieties - this second edition in the series is distilled 100% from unpeated Golden Promise barley, which gives the spirit its oily, viscous, characterful Ardnamurchan style.

For this edition, the identical spirit was matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks in parallel and bottled separately - this allows for a direct comparison of the influence of the two cask types. The bottling presented here is the Bourbon Cask variant: matured entirely in ex-bourbon casks in Ardnamurchan's traditional Dunnage warehouses and bottled at natural cask strength.

Unpeated, non-chill filtered, natural colour - bottled at cask strength at 58.6% ABV

Aroma: Honey, vanilla and fresh hay, accompanied by a hint of citrus and white peach

Taste: Oily and powerful thanks to the Golden Promise barley, vanilla cream and caramel, supported by a warming, spicy start without smoky notes
