The Ardbeg distillery, located in the south of the Scottish island of Islay, can today – after a once difficult past including closure – call itself one of the best addresses for smoky single malts. In addition to various permanently available whiskies, the distillery is known and popular for its temporarily available, limited editions.

Ardbeg Dolce matured for an undefined period in a combination of
former Bourbon and Sicilian Marsala wine casks.
Bottled at 47.8% ABV, without coloring and non-chill-filtered.

Aroma: Robust and complex. The smoke is accompanied by apricot notes, juicy raisins, sticky dates and tart apple compote. Orange marmalade adds a citrusy freshness. A splash of water reveals deeper, earthy layers: roasted mushrooms, pine needles, salted fish, capers and olives. Islay's pantry meets a Sicilian garden.

Taste: Spices set the tone with cinnamon aromas, star anise and a hint of liquorice sharpness. Sweetness unfolds with maple-smoked wood, baked dates with walnuts, honeycomb and dark chocolate. Dried fruit notes follow closely, enveloped in lemon zest and balanced by savory notes of salted nuts and dried herbs.
