Shortly after India became independent, Shri JN Radhakrishna founded the Amrut Distillery in 1948. Translated, the name of the distillery means something like “nectar of the gods”. Many production steps in whiskey production, such as bottling and packaging, are carried out entirely by hand, which means the company employs a large number of people. Since 2004, Amrut has been exported and sold internationally as India's single malt. In our own country only since 2010, as blended whiskeys are more popular in India.
Amrut Peated Cask Strength matured in oak barrels for an undefined period of time. Bottled with a strong 62.8% vol. Alcohol, without coloring and not cold filtered.
Aroma: Dry oak, sweet herbs, slightly medicinal peat smoke with pepper and marzipan.
Taste: Herbal with hints of smoked bacon, honey and ginger, dry and woody.
