The original Wolfburn Distillery was founded in 1821 by William Smith & Co in the North Highlands. Production stopped around 1850 and the distillery fell into disrepair. In 1872 only ruins remained. Plans for a new distillery not far from the site of the old facility only emerged in 2011. Whiskey production started in January 2013.
Wolfburn First General Release is the distillery's first standard bottling and was matured in ex-Islay quarter casks for an undefined period of time. Bottled at 46 vol. % alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Malty-sweet with fresh citrus fruits, maritime notes and a hint of peat smoke.
Taste: Dry nutty with a delicate sweetness, icing sugar, light grapes, barley malt, grassy freshness.
