The original Wolfburn Distillery was founded in 1821 by William Smith & Co in the North Highlands. Production stopped around 1850 and the distillery fell into disrepair. In 1872 only ruins remained. Plans for a new distillery not far from the site of the old facility only emerged in 2011. Whiskey production started in January 2013.
Wolfburn Aurora matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks for an undefined period of time. Bottled at 46 vol. % alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Cereal accentuated, hints of light dried fruit and caramel, mildly nutty.
Taste: Fruity with ripe apples, mix of sweetness and spice, barley malt and delicate oak.
