In 1882, William Sanderson, a Leith liquor merchant, prepared about a hundred casks of blended whiskey and commissioned a panel of experts to taste them. The batch from the cask (the Vat) numbered 69 was judged by the experts to be the most meaningful and provided the name of the whiskey brand.
VAT 69 Finest Scotch Whiskey matured in oak casks for an undefined period. Bottled at a mild 40% ABV. Alcohol.
Aroma: Sweet and mellow with grain, herbs and light bitterness from the oak.
Taste: Buttery with some caramel, grainy grains, green apples and a hint of smoke.
