Tomintoul is a relatively young distillery, founded in 1964 in Speyside, Scotland. There they produce both single malt whiskey without smoke, which is bottled under their own name, as well as smoky whiskey. However, this one is known as Old Ballantruan. The distillery is owned by Angus Dundee Distillers, which also operates the Glencadam distillery in the Highlands.

Tomintoul 14 years matured the entire time in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks. Bottled at 46 vol. % alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.

Aroma: Floral notes, subtle sweetness with hints of fennel and fresh ginger, dry oak.

Taste: Creamy sweetness with vanilla and toffee, ripe apples and pears, dry nuttiness and pleasant oak.
