The Stauning Distillery was founded in 2005 in the town of the same name in Denmark. Production began in 2009, initially with 60,000 pure alcohol per year. After Diageo acquired a stake in the distillery, the facility was expanded and the output increased to 750,000 pure alcohol per year. Stauning malts the rye for production and uses peat and heather in places for drying.
Stauning HØST matured for an undefined time in a combination of former First Fill Bourbon Casks, Virgin American Oak Casks, First Fill Port Barriques.
Bottled with 40.5% vol. alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Vanilla and beeswax with notes of citrus fruits
Taste: meadow honey, toffee, apple and red berries
