The Bruichladdich distillery was founded in 1881 by the Harvey brothers on the banks of Loch Indaal. Closed in 1994, a group of private investors breathed new life into the distillery in 2000. Today Bruichladdich produces single malt whiskey under its own name on the island of Islay without any peat smoke. Medium-strong smoky whiskey as Port Charlotte and the smokiest single malts in the world as Octomore.
Port Charlotte 10 Year Old was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and French wine casks. Bottled at a strong 50 vol. % alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Intense peat smoke, sweet undertones, ginger and aromatic herbs and spices.
Taste: Vanilla and lemon, peat smoke with a slight maritime edge, some ash and butter.
