Glenmorangie Triple Cask Reserve 0.7l, alc 40% vol.

Evidence of (illegal) whisky distilling in the region around the town of Tain dates back to around 1700, but the Glenmorangie Distillery has only been producing legal whisky since 1843. The distillery was the first to start maturing its whisky in other barrels on a large scale. Over the years, the distillery was expanded several times, but the small but tall stills were deliberately retained, which are unique in all of Scotland.

Glenmorangie Single Cask Matured for an indefinite period of time in ex-bourbon barrels, charred oak barrels and ex-rye barrels. Bottled at 40% alcohol by volume, not chill-filtered.

Nose: Rich and tropical, with a combination of pears, vanilla, candied orange peel, honeysuckle, grapefruit and old pear candy. Gentle spice notes of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg, followed by further sweetness such as maple syrup and crème brûlée.

Taste: Creamy and viscous, with crème brûlée, cherry chocolate, fudge, fresh orange sorbet, clove, sweet chilli and voluminous hints of ripe tropical fruit. Oak wood, maple syrup, almond marzipan and gentle spices are added.
