Glenmorangie A Tale of Spices 0.7l alc. 46% by volume

Evidence of (illegal) whisky distilling in the region around the town of Tain dates back to around 1700, but legal whisky has only been produced at the Glenmorangie Distillery since 1843. The distillery was the first to begin maturing its whisky in other casks on a large scale. Over the years, the distillery has been expanded several times, but the small but tall stills have been deliberately retained, making their design unique throughout Scotland.

Glenmorangie A Tale of Ice Cream matured for an unspecified period in Moroccan red wine casks, ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and new charred oak casks.

Nose: Spicy, sweet and wonderfully fragrant with notes of rose, carnation, jasmine and lilac, accompanied by the scent of a spice market – cumin, saffron, nutmeg, ginger, chili and anise – plus some sweet oak and chestnut.

Taste: Ginger, black pepper, mustard seeds, and a robust earthiness. A gentle sweetness of mints, brown cane sugar, and roasted almonds is added. The entire palate is underscored by a distinct eucalyptus note.
