Bunnahabhain was founded in 1881 by the Greenless brothers on the Scottish island of Islay and translates as “river mouth”. The distillery has one of the largest stills on the island and produces both smokeless and smoked whiskey. With an approximate smoke content of 38 ppm, the peated bottlings are considered to be rather mildly smoky. These can be found very often in the bottle typical of Bunnahabhain, which is very darkly colored under Gaelic names.
Bunnahabhain Toiteach A Dhà matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks for an undefined period of time. Bottled at 46.3 vol. % alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Cold smoke with a slight herbal note, hints of dark berries, nuts and some oak.
Taste: Mild spiciness with pepper, fruity, sweet caramel, maritime peat smoke, dry oak note.
