After the founding of the Benromach distillery in 1898, the distillery really had dark times behind it. In the 1980s Benromach seemed on the brink of collapse before Elgin independent bottlers Gordon & Macphail took over the distillery. In 1998, Prince Charles reopened the Forres distillery. Benromach is one of the few distilleries in the Scottish Speyside that produces continuously with smoky barley malt.
Benromach 15 years matured in a combination of former bourbon and sherry casks. Bottled at 43 vol. % alcohol, without coloring.
Aroma: Chocolatey oak, delicate sherry with ripe oranges, leather and underlying peat smoke.
Taste: Sweet, spicy with a peppery edge, smoky barley malt with aged leather and aromatic smoky notes, milk chocolate.
