The Ardmore distillery, which was founded in 1898, is located in the eastern Highlands. Among other things, the distillery processes medium-heavy peated malt, which makes some of the distillery's bottlings smoky. Among other things, Ardmore produces the main ingredient in Teacher's Blended Scotch Whisky, but also sells its own single malts.
Ardmore 12 Year Old Port Wood Finish first matured in ex-bourbon casks and then received a post-maturation in port wine casks. Bottled at 46 vol. % alcohol and not chill filtered.
Aroma: Delicate smoke with hints of strawberries, mild spices, delicate notes of wine and bay leaves.
Taste: Sweet and fruity, red berries, grain with an underlying smokiness and a hint of oak.
