In 2010, master builder Albrecht Ebensperger laid the foundation stone for his whiskey distillery, the Puni Distillery. Named after the river Puni, which flows through the Upper Vinschgau, the distillery in the medieval town of Glurns in South Tyrol produces an Italian malt whiskey using Scottish equipment.
Puni Sole first matured in former bourbon barrels for an undefined period of time and was then matured in Pedro Ximenez sherry barrels. Bottled at 46% vol. Alcohol, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Nose: Sugary sweetness with a creamy texture, hints of dark dried fruit and grains.
Taste: Sweet with brown sugar and honey, some lovage, exotic fruit notes, oak.
