But after tasting the first batch, Jack Napier, the original distiller, changed the name to Black Velvet to reflect its unusual velvety taste. Black Velvet Toasted Caramel combines Canadian with caramel. Bottled at 35 vol. % alcohol.

Aroma: Creamy and sweet with grainy notes, butterscotch and slight spice.

Taste: Sweet caramel with light fruit notes, some spicy oak and cinnamon.
