The original Wolfburn Distillery was founded in 1821 by William Smith & Co. in the Northern Highlands. Production ceased around 1850, and the distillery fell into disrepair. By 1872, only ruins remained. It wasn't until 2011 that plans were drawn up for a new distillery not far from the site of the old facility. Whisky production began in January 2013.
Wolfburn Small Batch No. 458 matured for 7 years in a combination of first fill PX sherry butts and first fill bourbon barrels.
Bottled at 46% alcohol by volume, without coloring and not chill-filtered.
Aroma: Notes of syrup and coffee, accompanied by cherry and spice notes.
Taste: Hazelnut, almonds and cloves are present, wonderfully overlaid with gentle peat smoke.
