The brothers John and Edward Hopkins founded the Speyburn Distillery in Speyside, Scotland, in 1897. The two men had decided to put the distillery into operation in the same year that Queen Victoria celebrated her 60th reign in order to fill the first barrel in the anniversary year. They actually managed it - but without there being any windows and doors in the distillery.
Speyburn 10 years matured the entire time in a combination of former bourbon and sherry casks. Bottled at 46% vol. Alcohol.
Aroma: Tart barley malt, apples and citrus, some vanilla and slightly dry oak.
Taste: Sweetness and spice mixed with powdered sugar and vanilla, fruity, some oak.
