Brothers John and Edward Hopkins founded the Speyburn Distillery in Speyside, Scotland, in 1897. The two men had set themselves the goal of opening the distillery in the same year that Queen Victoria celebrated her 60th reign, in order to fill the first cask in the year of the anniversary. They actually made it - but without there being any windows or doors in the distillery.
Speyburn 10 years matured the entire time in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks. Bottled at a mild 40% ABV. Alcohol.
Aroma: Sweet with malted barley, apples and citrus, some vanilla and slightly dry oak.
Taste: Sweetness and spice mixed with powdered sugar and vanilla, fruity, some oak.
