Today's Royal Lochnagar Distillery was founded in 1845 after the two first built distilleries were burned down by competitors. In 1848 the distillery received the "Royal Warrant" from Queen Victoria, which later added the word "Royal" to the name. The distillery is relatively small by Scottish standards. As a result, Royal Lochnagar single malts are rather rare.
Royal Lochnagar 12 years matured in oak casks the entire time. Bottled at a mild 40% ABV. Alcohol.
Aroma: Malty and fruity with grassy freshness, mild sweetness and some oak.
Taste: Sweet with fruitcake, hints of raisins, some spice and nutty oak.
