There were once seven whiskey distilleries in the town of Dufftown. Today there are only five - Mortlach is one of them. Founded in 1823, the distillery currently belongs to one of the largest spirits companies in the world, for which blended whiskeys are mainly produced. Mortlach had a famous apprentice: William Grant apprenticed there and later founded the Glenfiddich Distillery in the same town.
Mortlach 16 years matured the entire time in former sherry casks. Bottled at 43.4% ABV. Alcohol.
Aroma: Dark fruity with aromatic spiciness, sweetness and grain, earthy notes and sesame.
